and "What?s New at NAB 2006?"

JEM SCHOFIELD is an Apple Certified Trainer in DVD Studio Pro and Motion, and teaches DVD authoring, sound design and motion graphics around the country. He is also the president and creative director of Buttons Productions, which specializes in providing video production, DVD, web, audio and post solutions for a variety clients. Clockwork Cinema, a newly formed division of Buttons Productions, provides DVD Producing, Design and Authoring services for independent and studio feature films.

You can find Jem as a leader in the Apple DVD Studio Pro forum and the Apple Motion forum at CreativeCOW.net, and as an author of feature articles and reviews for MP3: Production Update magazine.

Jonathan is the Associate Director of the Sonic Arts Center at The City College of New York, where he has shaped the growth and direction of this unique 4-year BFA training program in Music and Technology. Jonathan is an Apple Certified Trainer for Logic Pro, is the founder of the New York City Logic Users Group and is also the instructor on Magnet Media's Inside Logic Pro 7.1 DVD training.

During his impressive career, Jonathan has assisted a diverse range of artists, composers, and producers, including: Pat Metheny, Shep Pettibone (Madonna), John Cale (Velvet Underground), Angelo Montrone (Anita Baker), Richard Einhorn, Earl Rose, Graham Haynes, and Stuart Matthewman (Sade).

His most recent film, Stones from the Soil, is a personal documentary that aired nationally this past summer on PBS. The New York Times critically acclaimed his most recent feature film, The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me.  Caplan also produced Peoria Babylon, which stars Ann Cusack and David Drake. He also directed and wrote several dramatic shorts, which have aired on PBS in Chicago and screened at film festivals nationwide. Michael is also a full-time professor at Columbia College Chicago in the Film & Video Department.

Specializing in sound editing, design & mixing, Benny Mouthon began his career as a music recording engineer. With over 10 years experience in post-production, he's mixed countless tv shows, documentaries, commercials, industrials and several films which have competed in festivals as diverse as Berlin, Toronto, Amsterdam and Telluride and have garnered 2 Emmy Award nominations for sound mixing and sound effects editing.

Scott's films have shown at Flicker in NYC, SXSW Interactive Fest, Dahlia's Flicks and Mix and most recently the Beverly Hills Film Festival. He conducted interviews for footage on the companion DVD for the book Final Cut Pro and the Art of Filmmaking by David Teague and Jason Cranford Teague. He's also acted in numerous award-winning films. He's currently starring in and producing Hollywood Unscripted and The Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell—both in post-production.

Dave’s Skowronski’s expertise extends from broadcast television to optical film production and everything in between. Currently, he is the Sr. Editor at Ron Hazelton’s House Calls where he is editing 24 episodes of an internationally syndicated home improvement program using his Final Cut Pro system. Dave is also a freelance editor/producer whose clients range from advertising agencies to independent film companies. He’s worked for Miramax Films in the Creative Advertising Department and has contributed to campaigns for Slingblade, Everyone Says I Love You and about fifteen other independent films.

Rusell Fine
Cinematographer

New York-based cinematographer Russell Lee Fine’s career spans a range from independent cinema to broadcast design. Among his recent feature film credits are Jim McKay’s Everyday Peopleand Laurie Collyer’s Shall Not Want. He collaborated with artist Cindy Sherman on her cult classic Office Killer, and with Godfrey Reggio on his Naqoyqatsi. Russell is also known for his moody, stylish photography on Tim Blake Nelson’s O and The Grey Zone, and the Ed Burns drama Ash Wednesday.

In television, Russell was the original director of photography for MTV’s The Real World and worked on the VH-1 Storytellers series. He has photographed countless spots and promos for everything from HBO Def Poetry Jam to AT&T. He lives with his wife and daughter in NYC’s Greenwich Village.

Ted is co-founder of the New York production companies This is That and Good Machine.
With more than 50 films to his credit (including In The Bedroom, American Splendor, 21 Grams, The Ice Storm, Happiness, The Door in the Floor, and many of Ang Lee's, Hal Hartley’s, and Todd Solondz’s films), Hope has been awarded
numerous honors and citations. His films have won Grand Jury, Best Director, Best Actor, & Best Screenplay Awards at the Sundance Film Festival, and his work has netted ten Academy Award nominations. Recently, Hope spearheaded
the successful campaign opposing the MPAA’s Screener Ban. Currently, Hope is in post-production on Nicole Holofcener’s Friends with Money (starring Catherine Keener, Frances McDormand, Jennifer Aniston and Joan Cusack).

Ed Gutentag started at the bottom sweeping the floors for a commercial still photographer in
NYC and then moved into motion picture as a film loader, then 2nd AC, and 1st AC on such films as Other Peoples Money, Far and Away, Forrest Gump, Heat, Eraser, George
of the Jungle, Mighty Joe Young, Titanic, and Lethal Weapon 4.

He is now working as a Director of Photography. His most recent credits include 2nd Unit Photography on 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story, American Pie 4: Band Camp. He is currently scheduled to shoot the main units on 2 Independent Feature films. Ed is also the President of Crashcam Industries Inc., which is now part of Panavision. Self admittedly, he lives in the most beautiful place in the world, Topanga,CA.

While a film student at the School of Visual Arts, Evan Schechtman had an unfortunate incident with a Moviola. The bloodletting, coupled with the frustration at the restraints of modern technology, led him to think about the future of post production.

In the years that followed, Evan became an expert in desktop technology and in 1998, founded Outpost Digital, which fast became known for its innovative use of next generation media technologies. In 2000, Outpost was acquired by bicoastal/international @radical.media and Evan became radical’s Chief Technology Officer, while still heading up Outpost Digital’s New York office, as well as their new facility in Santa Monica.

Harry Seldom is an artist who has been working with computer graphics systems for graphic design, image processing, animation and video FX for over 18 years. He has also spent many years training operators of video graphics systems on behalf of their manufacturers, most notably Pinnacle Systems, Inscriber Technology and Orad. For the past several years he has focused his energy on video editing using Final Cut Pro and producing digitally modified photography using Photoshop. Emir's feature film editing credits include the 1998 Sundance Grand Jury Prize & Cannes Camera d'Or winning "Slam" and "Whiteboys" starring performance artist Danny Hoch both directed by Marc Levin. His television credits include the recently aired HBO documentary "O.J. - A Story in Black & White" and the critically acclaimed PBS documentary "Two Towns of Jasper" (2002 Sundance selection).

Most recently he completed the edit of "Year of the Bull" which chronicles the life of a talented High School football player who is struggling to pass the S.A.T. test. Variety has hailed the film as the "Hoop Dreams" of the gridiron.

Dave’s technical expertise extends from broadcast television to optical film production and everything in between. He was the the Senior Editor at Ron Hazelton’s House Calls where he edited 24 episodes of an internationally syndicated home improvement program using his Final Cut Pro 4 system.

Dave is also a freelance editor/producer for hire. His clients range from advertising agencies to independent film companies. In the past, he worked for Miramax Films in the Creative Advertising Department. While with Miramax, he worked on the advertising campaigns for “Slingblade”, “Everyone Says I Love You” and about fifteen other independent films. After his experience at Miramax, Dave founded his own company, David James Productions, where he continued his broadcast television and corporate video work.

Effects-Design/Artist Roman hails from Chicago and works at Machete Edit & Design (Chicago). Roman attended Loyola University Chicago and majored in Visual Communications. His years of experience have given him extensive training in After Effects, Combustion, Flame & Inferno. Roman has worked on accounts such as Office Max, Pop-Secret, and SC Johnson to name a few. Machete Edit & Design has as allowed Roman to expand his horizons and free his mind creatively. Equipped with a new custom made Apple Dual G5 made to handle any job, he is prepared to create new innovative designs.
